The Republicans seem to be against everything Obama is, why?

When Obama started office he started to make good on his promises. This is a new thing in the republican eyes where their 2010 election number 1 promise is to p a jobs program and they have not even presented one yet. Now what the republicans did was to block every bill / measure that Obama and the democrats present and then come back to say that Obama hasn't gotten anything done. Well to this day, the score is that Obama has kept 137 promises, ped via compromise on another 40. There are another 69 that the republicans are blocking.
