Practice Practice Practice target shooting and, when your in the woods and see the deer that you want to take calmly aim just like it's a target, picture the exact spot on the deer you want to shot, don't just aim at the deer, I mean pinpoint the precise spot you want the bullet to hit, then squeeze the trigger. The biggest mistake I see new or even old hunters do is throw the gun up and shoot at the deer, and not actual aim the gun correctly. this sometimes works. But if you want to improve you kill rate pretend there is a target right behind the deers front shoulder and aim for the bullseye just like your target shooting.
